It's not at all a long way to Tipperary

You people who had never heard about The Ballymaloe Cookery School before I started going on about it wouldn't know that its founder, Darina Allen, is a very big deal in Ireland. Today she brought four of us students along to the Applefest in Tipperary. We were amused by how starstruck some people obviously were when they recognised her.

While Darina was busy judging the apple tart contest the four of us had a lovely time taking the tour of the orchards, eating lunch and spending a while tasting different Irish apple ciders.

All in all an excellent way to spend a sunny September Sunday.
